Finavia, the operator of Rovaniemi Airport in Finnish Lapland, has announced a €3 million expansion project to accommodate the increasing number of international visitors. The project, set to begin in April and conclude by November 2025, will add nearly 1,000 square metres to the departure area, ensuring the airport remains fully operational throughout the construction phase. This expansion is a response to the 29 percent increase in passenger traffic in 2024, with international travellers making up 44 percent of the total.

The airport, recognized as one of Europe's top three in its class by Airports Council International, serves as a crucial gateway to the Arctic, especially during the winter months.
